2009 Testimonials

This is what parents of Matrix players are saying about the Matrix Program:

“2009 was the fourth year of Matrix for our family.  My older daughter tried-out for Matrix after her 4th grade CYO season.  She didn’t make the Matrix team that spring, but was motivated to attend the spring Matrix skill clinics, and that summer she tried out successfully for a Matrix summer team.  That prepared her to make the 5th grade Arlington travel team, and she is now enjoying her 8th grade year playing CYO, travel and Matrix AAU ball.

She has developed a deep love of the game and expects to play on her high school team next year.  Her younger sister played-up on a Matrix  4th grade summer team and then during 4th grade was able to play-up on a 5th grade travel team.  She is now enjoying her third year of CYO, travel and Matrix basketball.

The benefits of Matrix for my girls have been numerous.  The friendships they have formed, the life lessons of playing a competitive sport where hard work pays the greatest benefits, and the growth in their confidence levels could not be replaced through any other type of activity.

As a parent, I greatly appreciate the quality of coaching, and I also greatly appreciate how Matrix works so cooperatively with Arlington Travel Basketball and is so accommodating for the other sports the girls play.

There is a strong culture in Matrix that is so rare in youth sports today – the program is for the girls, not the coaches or the parents.  Also, my wife and I love to watch these well-played games and so enjoy the other Matrix parents.

We feel very fortunate to have this sports option in Arlington.”

“I wanted to thank Coach Butler for helping transform my two daughters that played for him last Spring.  They have always thought they were "too short" or "too small" to play in a top tier basketball team.

Through the support of Matrix program they focused their energies on getting better fundamentally and enjoying the game. Their training and experience paid off in a huge way when they both made the McLean Select Basketball "A" team this fall!!

What impressed us so much with Matrix is that the coaches seemed genuinely concerned about the players and while there was a strong emphasis on teaching fundamentals, there was also a personal touch involved that made the game fun for the kids.

More importantly, they were exposed to what is really important about sports, and life.  It takes little effort not to participate, but great effort to succeed. Matrix equipped them with tools to succeed and we look forward to coming back for the upcoming season.”

The coaches are terrific and the training hard but very rewarding. I believe the Matrix Club develops in their players a love of the game which helps to advance each player to their fullest potential.  My daughter’s game play and skills have blossomed under their mentorship.

Matrix coaches also teach the importance of team play and sportsmanship. This is something where many other AAU clubs fail.

She is inspired and I credit Matrix for keeping her that way.”

"Our daughter began playing with the Matrix several years ago as a 9 year old, and played on the 9U Black team last spring.   After playing in the house league for her previous experience, she was ready to compete at a higher level.

Coach Liz Reed and the Matrix made this transition effortless, and provided both clinics and game opportunities to improve her skills.  The coaches walked us through the process, maintained constant communication, and provided constructive individual feedback on areas she needed to improve her game.

The Matrix organization clearly prides itself in running an efficient program with a family-like atmosphere that builds on a team approach.  The Matrix has taught and improved our daughter’s fundamental basketball skills and helped her develop a love of the game.”
