The Matrix 9U Green team, the club's Division II 9U team, went 3-0 on Saturday, March 28 at the Cardinal Tournament, winning two games vs other clubs' 9U National teams.
The 9U Green team started the day a little slow, at 8:15 AM, vs. the VA Hurricanes 8U team, but went on to a dominating 30-4 victory.
In the morning's second game, the 9U Green team took on the Hurricanes 9U National team. It was a hard fought, back-and-forth game by both teams. Late in the game, the Canes came back for a 4-5 point deficit to take a one-point lead very late in the game. But with less than a minute to go, Olivia Zavrel knocked down a mid-range jump shot to score what proved to be the game winning score in a 24-23 victory over a national team.
In 9U Green team's final game of the day the team survived a poor defensive outing in the first half and some game-long poor shooting to come back from a 10-5 half time deficit. The team pitched a second half shut-out to survive in a low-scoring 11-10 victory over the MD Beltway Lady Cougars 9U National team.
All in all, it was an excellent day for the Matrix 9U Green. Go Matrix!
