Coach Brian McNicoll From a 2009 Matrix 11U Green Team Picture

Coaching Experience.  Brian McNicoll is a third year Matrix coach, with four years experience coaching select girls’ basketball for McLean in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League.  For the past two season, Coach McNicoll coached the Green team for the Class of 2015 as their 11U coach and 12U coach, respectively.  For the 2011 AAU season, Coach McNicoll is excited to be coaching the Matrix 10U Green team. 

For the 2008-2009 season, Coach McNicoll earned the McLean Select Basketball Coach of the Year award.  For the 2009-2010 FCYBL season, Coach McNicoll led the McLean 12U Division 1 team to the finals.  For the 2010-2011 season, Brian is coaching the McLean Select 14-Under/8th Grade team.  

Coach McNicoll has also coached house league basketball in McLean for five years and coached 11 years of both boys and girls’ basketball in Shreveport , La.

Brian, who also referees house league basketball games, also has coached baseball and softball.

Coaching Philosophy.  Brian believes in a high-energy style in which tough defense keys the offense.

General Background.  He lives in Alexandria with his wife, Lori, and his two children:  Mary Kathryn, 6, and Marty, 4.
