5th Grade-8th Grade Black teamsThe Matrix will be fielding a number teams to compete in a “Lite” Fall/Winter schedule this year and Matrix FTC is an excellent opportunity for players to be seen by the coaches of these teams.

Most Black (Division 1) team coaches will be looking to add players for Fall/Winter league as we carry expanded rosters for fall/winter due to potential conflicts and the “lite” nature of the fall/winter team.  The Black team coaches will be closely watching the players at Matrix FTC for possible candidates to add to their teams.

AAU Changes to Pure Grade-Based Approach; Actual Change is Minor
posted 08/29/2010

For the upcoming 2011 AAU season, including Fall 2010, AAU Girls’ Basketball has changed its rules AGAIN for age determination.  The good news, however, is that the changes should have virtually no impact on our team formation.

For 2011, AAU is going to a pure grade-based approach, including that the official AAU division are now by grade, not age.  This means no more “10-Under” teams as former 10U teams are now 5th Grade teams.

The Matrix will start to identify teams by the graduation year of the players in that grade.  For example, this year's 7th Grade teams will be know as 2016 Black, 2016 Green and 2016 White.

10U Green Takes 3rd in Consolation Bracket at D-II Nationals
posted 08/07/2010

The Matrix 10U Green team overcame an unbelievably tough pool play schedule and bracket round draw to take home third place in the Consolation Bracket at the AAU 10-Under Division II Nationals in at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida on August 5, 2010.

Talk about a tough schedule:  at the end of the day, the 10U Green team lost to the 2nd place, 3rd place and 7th place team in the D-II Championship Bracket and then in the semi-finals of the Consolation Bracket, after leading most of the game, they fell by just four points to the ultimate winner of the Consolation bracket.  No gimmies for this group!!!

So while finishing third in the Classic Bracket is a very solid achievement, it doesn’t begin to tell the whole story on the great work by the 10U Green team at Nationals.

What Do Parents of Matrix Players Say About the Matrix?
posted 03/01/2010

There are many different ways to measure the success of a program and our Matrix website chronicles our teams' successes on the court in terms of Top 4 District finishes, medals, trips to Nationals, commitment to developing player skills and more.

Another way to measure success it to solicit feedback from our players' parents.

Read the Testimonial Comments from Parents
Check out our Matrix Testimonials section of the website for feedback we've received from our parents.

The section not only includes testimonials from our 2009 parents, but also results from our 2009 parent survey in which 88% of responses scored their daughter's experience with the Matrix as either Excellent (56%) or Above Average.

Click here or on Testimonials to read the great things that our Matrix parents have to say about our program.

Help The Matrix Raise Funds for Nationals or Scholarships With Tax-Exempt Donation

The cost for a player participating in AAU can be quite expesive, as can the cost of a team of attending AAU Nationals or other summer tournaments.

The Matrix offers scholarships to players on a need basis as our policy is that no player should not play for financial reasons.

In addition, we want to assist our teams in their fundraising efforts to attend Nationals and other suche events.

As such, we have set up an online donation page for you to make a tax deductible donation for scholarships or to a Matrix team of your choosing.

Click here to visit the Matrix donation page for more information and to make a donation.  Thank you!!!!

Matrix Volunteers to be FCYBL Webmaster

As noted many times, the
Matrix is a big supporter of the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League ("FCYBL") for coaches and players.

As the 2009-2010 FCYBL season began, they had no scores and standings website.  Well, with our experience in this area, the Matrix stepped up, developed a website for the FCYBL, and is serving as webmaster for the 2009-2010 season.
